I built my 17' Guillemot with (3) cedar and (1) redwood 5/4x6x 18' boards. I also used one 1"x6"x10' pine board for accent. I had enough left over for a greenland paddle. I'm to lazy to figure out board feet but the info in Nick's book is pretty accurate. I used the thinnest 7-1/2" saw blade I could find in my table saw.
