Rehd--

I've just finished cleaning up the basement in anticipation of starting another boat real soon.... still mulling over options, but right now, am planning to build a Pygmy Coho, and then move to the realm of strip building and tackle a Spring Run... since the parishioners who had some furniture stored in my basement (which I promptly protected with a layer of sanding dust ) have retrieved it, I've got room both to build a stitch & glue *AND* start getting stuff together for a strip boat. The method to my madness is that: now that I've done an Artic Tern (first boat = learning curve!) and the Coho for my stepfather's daughter (where I could just shrug off imperfections with the "it's not my boat" philosophy), the third stitch & glue will be nice!. Then.... I'll start building strip boats. One of these will eventually end up in the possession of my 16 year old niece -- she's spent some time in the Artic Tern and loves it. (she's my first kayaking convert)

I've just come "back to life" on this board after being very busy with work related stuff....the usual sorts of crises & chronic situations I deal with as a pastor .... including a writing project for the church publishing house that I finished on Sept 5.... as soon as I get the check for that, I'll be back to building!

My second kayaking convert is my friend the church history professor. My third kayaking convert is a 75 year old lady from my congregation that I took out on the tiny reservoir by Wilsall-- she loved it! My third kayaking convert is the head of the altar guild....

and we've had some new people coming to church, too!

Julie
