Well, I finally got my Coho done! OK, OK, it's not absolutely finished - I still have to find just the right spot to glue the hip braces, and I'm going to add some additional customized deck rigging, besides the simple fore and aft deck rigging, and I still need to varnish the boat, although I'm thinking that that will wait until next spring, when we get warm weather (and because I'll be using it too much this fall) - but it's officially in use!

I was putting together the photo's I had taken during construction, and found that the boxes arrived on 3/21/00; not too bad, considering this was my first homebuilt kayak.

I want to thank everyone for their tidbits of experience and wisdom that are posted on this BB; I only rarely had to actually post a question, since simply reading through and searching the archives usually got me the answers and suggestions I was looking for.

I do have two final questions though (at least for now ): - what's the best way to store a wooden kayak? I do have Yak Straps, in which I used to hang my plastic boat (on its side, and then with a plastic tarp wrapped over it). I noticed that after two or three weeks hanging, the "down" side of the plastic boat would start to bulge in (the plastic yak was 56 lbs, and 15' long; a Perception Carolina).

Should I hang my Coho on its side? Or should I build some type of frame which supports the bottom chines, and holds the Coho upright?

And, should I store the Coho inside during the winter? (I'm assuming yes, especially since it's not yet varnished). And, should it be stored upright during the long winter months?
