: I thought that a tack rag would be the best choice to use prior to

Previous postings have advised against using tack rags because the rosin in the tack rag can cause fisheyes between epoxy coats. I dont know about using tack rags between varnish coats. I've used ammonmia and water between epoxy coats and just water (after wet sanding) between varnish coats and have been happy with my results.
