Bob, I had a saw much like the one you describe at one time. It had some vibration that seemed excessive. My solution was to purchase machined steel pullys and a new properly sized V belt. Larger Dia. pullys will also give you better power transfer. If you do have those zinc cast pulys it is a cheap upgrade to change them. On cutting cedar strips you should pick up a small dia. (7" for a 10'" saw) thin kerf blade. I never use it for any thing else but it works like a dream for the lite cuts in soft wood required to make strips and you will gain a few pcs. and have less saw dust when the job is done. Also be shure to make some push sticks to get past the blade I use 1/4" plywood for the skinny ones so there is less chance of splitting. Have fun and be carefull. Steve
: I think that I must live with the perfect woman. I saw a table saw for sale
: in the paper that I thought that I had to have, broached the idea to her
: and her reply was, "Bob you've wanted one for a long tine, you have
: the money get it." So for 200 frog skins I have a Craftsman saw with
: cast iron table, table extensions, 1 3/4 hp motor. I was wondering if
: there were any books on saw adjustment. I plan on changing the pulllys so
: that I can have double drive belts. Of course Jayne wnants me to finish
: triming out a wall we put in last summer, but I figure that in the course
: of getting the saw adjusted I can rip the strips for my next boat, I got
: 1/3 of them done tonight getting a "feel for the saw". Any tips
: on tuning up the saw? Thanks Bob
