I used the same routine you described. Looks perfect to me.

: I finally got a decent finish varnishing using foam brushes on the bottom of

: fed up with sanding and varnishing only to have another run show up, after
: closing the door and going to bed, I said screw it I'll buff it out. Well
: with a little more wet sanding, progressively down to 2000 grit and then
: using Meguiar's #1 then #2 and then their Swirl Remover I discovered the
: finish far exceeded what I could do with a brush. I decided not to polish
: the bottom it was good pretty good and was destined to get scratched up.
: The perfect finish is obtained, as Spidey advocates, is by using a fairing
: board sanding the epoxy. Then by varnishing and wet sanding between coats.
: Completing with a polish job per Meguiar's recommendations.

: This degree of effort is all cosmetic and is only to get the compliments.
