: I'm back working on my Exp. Single and thought I would weigh all the add-ons
: before installing. I thought the results were interesting.
: !- Front 3" foam bulkhead-- 15oz.,
: 2- Rear foam bulkhead-- 16oz.,
: 3- Carved foam seat--11oz.,
: 4-Yakima foot braces--17oz.,
: 5--Whitewater style back band--11oz.,
: 6-- Deck rigging,carry toggles,caulk for bulkheads,etc.--Approx.-- 16oz.
: The total weight to outfit a bare kayak is almost 5#!!!!!!

Thanks for the fun facts. I've never seen it broken down like that. That's quite a sizable portion of the finished boats overall weight. I was surprised to see the bulkheads come in that high. Could you get away with a thinner bulkhead? Without getting into the flexible vs. hard bulkhead discussion, I wonder what a comparably sized wood or even just a fiberglass layup bulkhead would be.
