Thanks for the warning. Which batteries are you talking about. I am looking at a gel cell that is used on trailers to activate the brakes if they come off the hitch while in motion. They are apparently the same as the ones used in emergency lighting systems. These batteries measure 6" X 5" X3" approx. and would be perfect. I just have to find one to check the ratings.

A friend uses one on his 1951 Harley Davidson and has had no trouble with it at all.

Someone mentioned that Wal-mart had these type for an excellent price but I couldn't find them there. They did have a gel cell automotive battery for about $95.00 but that is way too high and way too big.

Its down to the trailer place tomorrow!

P.S.- has anyone used one of those solar battery chargers to trickle charge a car battery? This would be a great addition to the system for extended trips.
