: customer a bill for $1,000 for marking their property boundries we would
: sometimes get complaints that we were overcharging them for just putting 4
: concrete posts in the ground.

: All they saw was us showing up, digging holes and putting in the markers.
: What they didn't see was the trips to the registry of deeds to research
: the property, the field collection of the data, the calculations we did to
: determine where the markers go and a dozen other hidden costs that lead to
: those pieces of concrete being in the correct place.

: I guess my point is that there is a lot more to getting a good set of plans
: to the customer than just running to kinkos and having them xeroxed. I
: think $80 is a fair price for the amount of work that goes into creating
: well designed boats like Nick's, Rob Mack's and the other designers of
: those beautiful kayaks we all love to show off and paddle. I don't imagine
: many of them are getting rich from this.... Plus, you usually end up
: getting what you paid for.
It seems as if there are a few of us surveyors hanging out here. I'm thinking that when you consider the amount of time you will spend lofting up your mold stations from a table of offsets amd fairing them out, then figuring your time as being worth minimum wage. $80.00 plus postage don't seem too bad.
