Using the Newfound shipping crate as strongback

I just ordered a kit from Newfound Woodworks and opted to have it shipped in the long plywood crate which ostensibly doubles as a strongback. Has anybdy had any experience with the crate/strongback? Should it be modified for extra rigidity?
