I did mean that I only got 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm epoxy penetration into Hoop Pine. Note that is 4 to 8 thousandths of an inch, not the larger numbers I wrote below. 4 to 8 thou is not enough to attach the glass to the Hoop Pine. It's less than the glue layer holding the veneers of the ply together!
Since then I have noticed poor penetration into the end grain of the Hoop Pine, in a few places. I epoxied the holes for the deck fittings after drilling. Despite two layers of epoxy on the exposed end-grain I have noticed that there is seepage from the holes along the grain. I will have to drill the holes oversize, fill them with epoxy and drill out the epoxy to the original hole size.
: Unfortunately, my cross-sections (ie from the cockpit cut-out) show between
: 0.1 mm and 0.2 mm epoxy penetration depth into the outside layers of
: veneer. That's 20 to 40 thousands of an inch, for the metrically
: challenged. This is not enough to stop even small bumps or limited
: pressure on the surface of the deck, inside the cockpit or on the
: underside of the hull, from denting the timber and _delaminating_ the
: glass.
