What I've done,and it worked great for me, is to sand down any areas of damage into the cloth or wood and do the apropriate epoxy repair, then give a light sanding to the rest of the hull. Apply a coat of highbuild primer and then sand till only the low spots and scratches have the primer remaining (the vast majority of your hull should be paint again). Repaint and your good to go.
