Ive built a small Stitch and glue kayak I call the Rising Star its 12' long, 20 inches wide about 20 lbs. It is intended to give a kid the performance we adults enjoy in a kid size boat. It is narrow enough for learning eskimo rolls and bracing and to give a kid an easily driven boat. Of course that comes at the expence of stability, but several of my nephews and a niece have tried it (having never paddled before) and had a great time.

: I was looking for a Perception Umiak for my son, however am seriously
: considering making a wooden boat for him. Can anyone suggest a
: company/website that offers plans for a boat similar to the Umiak?
: Many thanks...
: Bob
