The strips are more like 5/8", so the skeg's a little smaller than you were thinking. In this pictures, the spacer blocks that separate the two sides of the trunk are 3/4"x3/4" - should give a better indication of scale. The full length of the skeg blade is 12 inches. I estimate it extends out of the trunk about 7 inches when fully deployed.
