: I'm getting water in the Coho I just finished; after paddling for about 2
: hours, I get about 4 cups of water in the bow and stern compartments, as
: well as in the cockpit.
Some people get pinhole leaks, especially at the stitch holes. One way to find these is to take a cold boat out in sun with thightly closed hatches and coat suspected areas of the outside with soapy water. Expanding air in the compartments will make bubbles where the leak is. This won't work for the cockpit however. For this, partially fill the cockpit with water with the boat on dry pavement. Tilt the boat so that each seam can be tested for leaking water for a few minutes.
It's possible that your bulkheads leak allowing water from a leak in either the front or back to migrate to the cockpit. Put some water in the front compartment to see if the cockpit gets wet. Follow up with the same test of the rear compartment.
The worst situation is if water is getting the plywood wet underneath the epoxy/fiberglass barrier. Do you see wood discoloration anywhere? If so, you must get the wood dry before sealing it.
