Cover the reflective tape with masking tape, leaving a bit of overlap on the paint, then trace around the edge with a razor blade or knife. Peel off the excess masking tape and paint. Once the paint is reasonably dry, remove the masking tape and you're done. I've used this technique to cover decals on paddle blades and other items that I've painted. It's very easy to do.
