: OK. I have spent a while pondering and this is the method I intend to use to
: build my ES strongback.

: 1. Make a plywood box to avoid warping.
: 2. Simple butt joints throughout as I don't have tools for anything else.

: Unless anyone has any overwhelming reason as to why I shouldn't do it this
: way, then I will be starting cutting on Friday evening.

Hi Francis

One thing I would like to add. Since plywood is made up of layers of wood, the ends are not too good for screws to hold in. My suggestion is, on the inside piece, the piece where the screws or brads would be going into the end of the plys, glue or screw some 3/4" x 3/4" cleats at the edge spaces a few inches apart to give your screws something substantial to bite into. They would be inside and not interfere with your forms. Not sure if that is too clear. It just might make your strongback a little stronger. If you glue up Your method, and give it time to cure, then it will be strong, but the cleats are more of a guarantee. If you are going to use an inner piece to make the strongback longer, then the cleats would have to be left out of that area.
