Hi Bob, Try to get the temperature up to some constant level,if the outside is freezing, 50-60 rather than getting one little area warm with heating lamps. Although a few heating lamps are useful. Having one part of the boat at 80 degrees and another at 45 is awkward. If you do erect some kind of heating system beware of not having a rising temperature after glassing. There really isn't a magic bullet on this one. Cold temperature = viscous epoxy = slow curing
if you use faster epoxy the chance of blush increases. If you put warmed up epoxy on cold wood it'll get thicker, If you use MAS cold cure (which has been discontinued ) you'll have a faster cure but is more viscous.

It's possible to tent off your workspace with 6mil plastic but be VERY careful you don't erect a fire hazard or risk poor ventilation problems. Heating 6'x7'x20' space is a lot easier than a whole barn/garage. I don't think you'll have structural changes with the temp. Mostly timing ones if one end of the boat is at 48 degrees and the other is at 68, or if you turn the heat up after glassing. Search back through the archives, this topic comes up this time of year, with many innovative and goofy solutions.

: I plan to build through the winter months. Do I need to wait until warmer
: weather for the glassing of the boat, or will the use of the MAS
: preparations allow me to glass in the winter months? I will likely use an
: electric heater when actually building. Do I need to worry about the
: effect of temperature changes on the boat structure itself after leaving
: the garage? I would appreciate all cold weather warnings. Many
: thanks....Bob
