I would think the drip ring would be on the blade and not on the shaft. I want to stop the water before it hits my hand and I am gripping it at the transition.
I like the purist view though. hmmm I work above an aquarium that has a couple seals in it. Are harbor seals acceptable? They would be real easy to catch ... :-)
