It sounds as if outgassing is another possible culprit. When you lay epoxy in rising temperatures, the wood substrata emits small amounts of air which will manifest itself as bubbles in your setting epoxy. (it won't happen if there is little temp change or falling temp). I'm not saying this is what happened to your boat, but I thought I'd toss this out as a possibility. Good luck!
