I used a 9" x 14" opening for the front hatch and the aft hatch is 12" x 16.5" (inside opening of hatch lips). They seem like good sizes so far. When I was trying to determine what size to use, I scoured the Internet and looked at all of the commercial boats. My hatch sizes are the average of all the sizes I found. (I deleted some that seemed excessively large, or quite small).
