I live in the Minneapolis area. The Home Depot personnel told me that this was western red cedar, but you know how that goes. Actually, the boards I was looking at were not the decking/fencing. They were 1" boards that were next to the clear pine, oak, and aspen boards. This wood is supposed to be the better quality lumber that is all surfaced and everything. If anyone knows a better place to look I would appreciate any suggestions.

I have seen that precut strips can be ordered but as with most prepared stuff this comes at a premium so I would prefer not to go this route.
