In Response To: spilled resin (Charles Cooper)

: I had one of those days where I tried to do too many things at once and one
: of them was to transfer some MAS resin from one container to another. I
: was, of course, called away "just for a minute" which stretched
: out to many minutes, then to over an hour, then finally, as I forgot what
: I had been doing, to most of the day as we drove to my sister-in-laws.

: Lovely day and evening, but when I returned I went into the garage (I had
: left the light on) I found that I had forgotten that I left the resin pump
: out of the bottle, and it had drained itself. All over the bench, down the
: side and all over the floor.

: Arrgh.

: Now that I have cleaned up the worst of the mess, I'm left with a thin sticky
: film everywhere.

: What solvent should I use to clean it? Or should I just smear an equally thin
: coating of hardener on everything to 'seal it in'?

Sound like what I did;except that I spilled about 1/2 gallon of hardener on my cast iron table saw. I used an entire roll of paper towel, then lots of saw dust and more paper towel, then acetone and more paper towel (I put the acetone soaked towel in a metal can and leave it outdoor to prevent fire.) and finally denature alcohol and more paper towel. Took me the whole afternoon.
You did not spill as much so it may not take as long.
Why I did what I did? I just did.
