Allen,

Jump right in! My first kayak was Pygmy's Arctic Tern, less than 2 years ago. Since then, I have also completed a skin on frame Putz Walrus, and a Plywood on frame Walrus, made up as I went. I have also almost completed another HIGHLY modified Skin Walrus, and have been working on a strip-built Redfish Spring Run. The Pygmy was too easy. You shouldn't have any problems with the Pygmy, and if you do, there are a lot of people here to give you all the advice you need.

You probably wont be a first-timer for long, it is a slightly adictive hobby.

Mike

: For some reason I feel compelled to build a kayak (probably from drooling
: over all the pictures of kayaks posted by guys like you). I'm thinking of
: an Osprey Triple by Pygmy. I have some carpentry skills (I built a kitchen
: from sticks once). Is this too ambitious a project for a first-time kayak?
: I've been looking at the S&G projects posted at various web sites and it
: all seems straightforward. But, I also know that when concept meets
: reality.......
: Anybody have any thoughts on this? Should I try a less ambitious project like
: a "kid yak" from Glen-L first or should I jump right in. Any
: thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
