I was fortune enough to actually see one (actually it was a rolling shell.) The guy claimed that he has got it from someone who built that out of some old plan. It was made with some brown color paper and coated with many layers of varnish. The shell was about 22 feet long, smooth and round bottom. No clue who was the designer.
