The best way to repair old paddles is by using carbon fiber, weave for the blades, linear stuff for the handle. Works best on the frontside of the paddle because that is where it is tension when being used. In any case, put a generous amount on and after it is cured sand off what you don't need. Carbon fiber sands very easily---although it mades an awful mess--- and you can actually tune the paddle to the flex you prefer by judicious removal. I have made several new paddles in this manner also. Be sure to use the minimum amount of epoxy. You can even get fancy and vacuum bag but in the real world ( at least the one I live in) that is overkill.
