: Interesting cockpit application. Where did you come up with the idea of
: epoxying the cockpit directly to the canvas?
The cockpit consists of two 3/4" plywood rims. The first rim is part of the frame. The canvas is stretched over it and stapled around it. The second rim is then glued down onto the first sandwiching the canvas and staples in between (is that a composit ? :-). So technically, it is not really glued to the canvas alone. I will probably end up driving some screws through the two rims to give some extra insurance that they stay together. Admittedly, if the boat ever gets to the point of recanvasing, the cockpit will be hard to take apart.
