: Translucent coating on Canvas
: I’ve got my canvas and will be applying it to my Walrus next week. I’ve been
: kicking around how to treat the canvas for at least two months. If
: possible, I’d like to stay away from painting the canvas as I’d like for
: the look of the canvas to show through and have a more natural earthly
: look than paint can provide. On the other hand, putting a clear coating on
: the boat will be glare city when the sun is out with the white deck.
: So tonight, while at Fred Meyer, I went looking for a solution. What I found
: were various deck sealers and protectors. One type has UV protection, is
: mildew resistant, waterproof and has a mild pigmentation. Linseed oil is
: the base of one of the sealants. Has anyone looked into or used these
: types of sealant on canvas? I’d like to know before I drop 15-20 bucks on
: an experiment.
Have you looked at aircraft coatings?
