About a year ago, I first happened upon this site and was wanting to build a canoe, S&G and went on a quest for materials on OUR coast. Most of what I was finding was on the East coast or up North. I was hopeing to use local distributors, but, what I found was that there were very few around, and the prices didn't compare with what's available by mail order. Then, a friend up in Sacto told me about MeBeath Hardwoods in Berkeley. I got in touch with them, and checked all sorts of materials out and they not only are the closest dealer around, but, they proved to be the cheapest in several catagories. Since then, my agenda has changed and it wasn't advantagous to travel all the way up there for 4 sheets of ply and a couple of boards. My friend in Sacto and I were going to go together and pick up materials and then he just up and vanished. ??? Anyway, you will do well to visit them, either on the net or in person.
