Thanks. I think I took around a month to build the frame, although others can and do build them faster. The framework is nice, but I'd have to say it looks kind of plain compared to a baidarka :-)
Before canvas, it was coming in at 20-25 lbs. That's with a fir/cedar wood combination (probably 20 % / 80 % ratio, respectively) and coated with urethane. The canvas is, IMO, quite heavy and added a lot of weight. How much, though, I don't know yet. I'll weigh in again after painting. If I had gone polyester like Mike and others, I think it would be much lighter.
Right now, I don't care. I just want to get it finished before the paint starts freezing in the cans and the water around here becomes solid! Maybe I could convert it to an ice boat
