: Thank you in advance! Currently have an Arctic Tern but
: want something that sits lower in the water. For me the
: Tern sets too high, hard to control in winds over 15knots.
: Considering the Osprey but just not sure, looking for comments
: on both! Help! I weigh 155#, 5'7". Thanks

I have two Cohos and couldn't be more pleased. Fast in flat water, perfectly secure in gnarly stuff. I also think the Coho is the sexiest s&g boat on the water, and that doesn't hurt. Gives me a rush every time I look at them--and of course there's the "parking lot syndrome" when you've got the boats on the car: people come up and just drool. My wife (5'4", 115) paddles one, and the other one's mine (5'9", 165). She does fine in this "big" boat. I have not paddled the Osprey Standard. (My 11-year old son and I are now building a Pygmy Tern 14 with the new recessed rear deck. It's not on their website yet. It is going together very easily, with the simpler hull.)

A guy from California Canoe and Kayak dropped by last weekend because he had the same question you have: Coho vs. Osprey, and he had seen the Osprey. He has now ordered a Coho. One thing on the Coho: build it LIGHT and you won't regret it. It's a wonderful-handling boat that's even better if not overbuilt.
