I think Nick has been out of town (?), but I doubt he'd bother defending himself. I think his work speaks for itself.
I'm not sure George even takes himself seriously. He seems like a nice enough guy. He sent me plans for one of his own designs, and didn't even accept when I offered to pay for postage. Maybe he just enjoys stirring the pot a bit, or keeping people on their toes and discussing ideas. He's certainly not dumb, but perhaps a bit socially challenged (PC term for rude) at times. He has some very good ideas at times, but you have to sift a little to get them.
As you said, you can ignore what you don't like. I posted a comedic post once, and someone complained about how much of his time it wasted. I pointed out that he didn't have to read the whole post to determine that it was of no use to him. Use the same criterion for any posts you don't want to see.
I like to think about things from alternative perspectives.
