short strips

Don't worry about shorter strips - you only need to scarf your first one or two strips to start with a smooth base. Butt join all other strips on a form and you will save a lot of time and effort (just try to scatter the butt joints on different forms.

: pine. It looks like I am going to be doing a lot of scarfing. One lumber
: yard had a stack of 1x12x8 FT pine for shelving at $7 each.
