: I am a high school technology teacher with students building a small car.
: They plan to use fiberglass to form the body shell. I need infomation on
: building a plug to form the mold. I plan to build the plug from wood
: strips as if we were building a kayak. Have I lost my mind?!!!
If you teach high school there is no questioning your sanity, or lack thereof -- but that is another matter.
Fibreglast company offers detailed information on building molds and using them at their web site: www.fibreglast.com (yes, it IS spelled funny) I believe they used to have some training videos on making one-off fiberglass products, and others on making molds. if so, these would be (in my opinion) a simpler thing for the entire class to view before starting a project -- and showing a video will make your day's lesson plan so much simpler.
Their web page also has an offer for brochures on these topics. This link will send you to detailed online instruciton on mold and plug making.

Good luck with your project. Hope this helps.
