external stem material?

I have my forms just about cut out and my box beam wood purchased.

Its getting closer and closer to laying that first strip.

I need to get some wood to laminate for the internal and external stems on Greeley's Return?

Can I get some recommendations? I might like a nice dark wood to contrast with the nice dark red cedar hull.
