I now have my piece of walnut from my woods that I will use for accent strips, finished and drying over my wood stove. I cut a 2x4 down the middle, nailed the two lengths on each side of the log and used them as a guide to saw out a plank 1 1/2 inches thick. Squared the ends on a table saw and took my ruff-cut board to a pattern shop where I use to work and jointed and planed the board to 1" thick and 5 1/2" wide, and I am now drying it on top of my wood stove.
