The pinner would probably work well at the forms and into internal stems (if you use internal stems), but you will still want some clamping method in between the forms to force small gaps closed. You could use a few staples in between, but that would start to negate the reason for getting the pinner -- or you could use some of the creative, non-invasive clamping methods that some people use to build a boat without any staples or nails.
One potential problem with the pinner would be in removal of the pins. In some tough areas where a staple just won't hold, we may end up using a small nail or brad, and we nail through a scrap strip or piece of plastic so that we have something to pull up on to remove it later.
