Okaaay... I finally stopped laughing...

Here' the math:

In most parts of the world I have visited recently, there are 8,760 hours in the average year (ie. 24 x 365 - I confirmed this with my Accountant and Lawyer and was given permission to broadcast this information - with the proviso that this could change with the advent of Windows/98 and/or the coming of Year 2000).

So...

1500 hours building............................leaves 7260 hrs. 3 weeks paddling Superior (7 x 24) = 504 plus 2 (really fast) travel days from Kansas to said body of water and back = 48. (Total 552)....................................leaves 6708 hrs. Paddling lake Skiatook 25 miles once a week at, let's say, 5mph (phew!) 5 x 52 = 260...................................leaves 6448 hrs. Rolling 50 - 100 times per day (avg 75) presumeably on Lake Skiatook. Now, I can roll, but I'm out of shape and over the hill. When I do one, I really don't feel like doing another for several minutes. However, my wife's nephew, a 27 year old (active) Marine Corp. Staff Sergant(who can do one arm push-ups indefinitely) can do do about one every 30 seconds for about 5 minutes before paddling to the closest Starbucks for a double espresso. Let's assume you could keep this up for 75 continuous rolls every day..... (((30 secs x 75))/60/60) x 365 = 228.125hrs....leaves 6219.875 Assuming Lake Skiatook is in the back yard, there must be about 15 minutes both in and out (of Lake Skiatook): getting the boat to/from water, donning and removing PFDs, funny neoprene stuff and suitable shorts (although, maybe in Kansas that's not required) 30 mins x 365 = 182.5 hrs......................leaves 6037.375 Let's assume 6 hours of sleep in every 24 (less than average according to at least two web sites, but what do they know?) 6 x 365 = 2190..................leaves 3847.375 Same web sites say the average male in America (including Kansas... I think..?) spends about 38 minutes in the bathroom every day, showering, shaving, scratching (you figure out the rest), so, being generous, let's use 30 minutes 30 mins x 365 = 182.5 hrs......................leaves 3664.875 Same web sites also say the average person (didn't differentiate between men, women or Kansan's) also spends about 45 minutes a day ingesting food stuff - fried chicken, Hershey bars, Budweiser, coffee and sugar derivatives (or, in California, sushi, bean sprouts, and double Lattes's) 45mins x 365 = 273.75 hrs......................leaves 3391.125 And, since we're spending 1500 hours building every year, it is fair to assume at least 4 trips a month to a lumber yard, hardware store, JPL, NASA or similar purveyor of test-gear and atom-splitters in order to amaze and/or intimidate other builders of floating devices. Let's say 3 hours per trip, 3 x 12 (given the average 4 weeks in a month allowed by the Gregorian Calendar - Pope Gregory was the one who decided we were out of sync with George) = 36 hrs ..............................leaves 3355.125

Now the obvious stuff... 1 hour per day on the computer sending flaming posts, slamming designers of floating devices (and consulting with the directors of "Titanic" on how best to sink a ship by carefully dragging it over a sand bar or an iceberg) 1 x 365 = 365 .................................leaves 2990.125 2.25 hours a day creating web pages which critique other people's designs - hey! it's a lot of work to find fault with others when you have no original thought of your own and can only brag about who you might have been (ain't the web grand?) 2.25 x 365 = 821.25............................leaves 2168.875

So.... given an average 40 hour work week like most of us (I don't know if that's still legal in Kansas) ie. 40 x 52 = 2080.............................leaves 88.875

That only leaves our friend about 15 minutes a day to smell the roses, watch a sunset, pet a dog, hug kids, friends, and spouses, and otherwise interract graciously with members of his own species.

Wish I knew what he eats for breakfast...
