It's his fast attack kayak. They builder normally builds towfish (towed submarines) out of the same materials.

The 65 pounder was just overbuilt using materials that the builder had on hand. He just built it to build a kayak. It would be strong enough for anything I would ever want to do in a kayak. He has built some Pygmy's since then, all of which were significantly lighter.
