Hi Joe;
Thanks for the new pics - - That does look pretty cool. Would you expect water intrusion in slots that were only sealed with varnish? That is how I presently have it. It's not too late to change, but I have buffed my deck at this point - - It could require a big refinish if I get messy.
Also, I'd like to hear an answer to Dale's question about the internal blocking as well, if you don't mind giving up trade secrets . . .
I searched the web for knots to use, and settled on the double fisherman's knot as well . . . It looks pretty neat also.
