there are 3 types of wood kayaks:
skin on frame - cheap, easy to build, quick to build, looks ok.
stitch & glue - more expensive, alittle harder to build than the above, alittle slower to build than the above, looks ok.
strip built - more or less same cost as s&g maybe alittle more expensive, lots of work, takes lots of time to build, looks extremely pretty - these boats are
the most beautiful thing you'll see on the water.
I have a s&g kayak. my next kayak will be skin on frame (sof).
to you I recommend the sof. here are 2 books with instructions & plans:
1. wood & kanvas kayak building, by george putz - mcgraw hill $20
2. building a jawbone kayak, by zu freeman - tamal vista publications $10
