: Oh please.... any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
: I am a teahcer who is charged with helping a student design and create a
: fully functioning Kayak. I really know nothing about this and this is the
: first place I have found from the search engine.
: Feel free to email me with any ideas. This kid is a really shrp dude and is
: able to take on big tasks like this.... I'm here to facilitate.
I am building my first kayak (strip) and I wanted to do it without buying plans or building books for the fun of it. I downloaded the free BearBack Kayak designer software, and after playing with it for a day it becomes easy to use. I then looked at the kayaks types that I wanted, from the builders on the net and took the sizes from the one I liked, length, width, etc.. You can then play around and add or substract to the sizes. The program even gives you the ability to make your kayak more rounded or flat. The BearBack program keep you within good building parameters so you don't make a bad mistake. When your design is finished you can print out as many full sized patterns of cross sections as you need. I used one every 18 inches. Then by using this excellent bullitin board you can have great building instructions, by downloading several of these builders web sites that have complete construction with pictures of their kayak's as they built them. And you can always ask question on this site for guidance when a problem comes up. This is just my way and an option for you.
