Grant -- I agree with Jimmy & Jon. I built by Merganser last winter with 5.2 mm (2/10") lauan, and didn't have any problems. About a year ago, someone suggest holding a sheet up to a spotlight and it may show some of the voids within the sheet. Hope this helps. -- Greg
