: There's no reason why this wouldn't work, but you'll want to install a small
: deckplate in the bulkhead to allow access to the compartment, in case
: there is any water seepage into the department that needs to be drained or
: allowed to evaporate.

And also ventilation which would then really need the above. Otherwise - BANG!

I think the same redundancy is to not make a compartment but just blow up a float bag inside. Packing is maybe easier and variably jammed in place by the blown up bag no matter how much gear packed.
