My first attempt at building a kayak was a stripper. I used the book "The Stripper's Guide to Canoe Building" by David Hazen. Besides canoe plans the book also outlines two plans for strip kayaks. Overall I found the process to be very forgiving, and worth while as the end result is a beautifull kayak.
