I have some experience with cedar stripping. Am soon finishing my second cosine wherry. In my opinion hot glue is an inferior product for use in boatbuilding.Read Canoe Craft on this subject. I used marine glue (uf109).On the first boat I clamped each plank until the glue dried( very time consuming). There are no staple holes and it looks beautiful. The glue is meant to hold the planks together, and not to stick the planks to the stations. The second boat was stapled using an air powered gun.I did as much planking in one weekend as I did in a hole month on the first one.The hot glue was meant to have the same results by not having to wait for glue to dry,but it does not hold the planks,is transparent, and does not sand.
