When glassing the inside, I lay the cloth in as smoothly as possible and start wetting out from the center of the boat. You shouldn't need to make a cut at the ends; in any case don't start cutting until you've wet out most of the way towards each end and can see the lay of the land (cloth). A small paint brush can be an effective tool for applying epoxy when you get into the narrow ends of the boat.
