: I have some experience with cedar stripping. Am soon finishing my second
: cosine wherry. In my opinion hot glue is an inferior product for use in
: boatbuilding.Read Canoe Craft on this subject. I used marine glue
: (uf109).On the first boat I clamped each plank until the glue dried( very
: time consuming). There are no staple holes and it looks beautiful. The glue
: is meant to hold the planks together, and not to stick the planks to the
: stations. The second boat was stapled using an air powered gun.I did as
: much planking in one weekend as I did in a hole month on the first one.The
: hot glue was meant to have the same results by not having to wait for glue
: to dry,but it does not hold the planks,is transparent, and does not sand.

I haven't used my hot glue gun as yet. But this is plan "A". Clamp on the shear strip overnight. Then wet the strip with a sponge and then heat gun it hoping it relaxes into the shape and then just slightly tack it with hot glue. I will keep your method in mind for plan "B".
