: I'm planning on building a Skene-style kayak using George Putz's book.
: Nowhere does that book mention amenities like a seat comfortable enough to
: sit in for hours of paddling, or footrests and thigh braces. Any advice on
: installing such accesories?

I think most people use an appropriately placed beam as a foot brace. I installed Schade footrests (as in Nick's book) in mine. They seem fine, but I really can't say if they will work ok or not given my limited time in the boat. I'll probably also start out with a thermarest pad as a seat for now. Might get fancier later on. I'm about to put a "strap" type back rest in too and will eventually get some pro hip-snap hip braces. I believe Putz actaully uses a chair back in one of his boats.

I'd be interested in hearing what others have done also.
