How about CA glues like SuperGlue? They can be quick grabbing so you don't have to clamp for long.
: I have made a couple of scale model kayaks using balsa and S&G methods, but
: would like to try a stripper model about 1/10 scale. I have some cherry
: veneer which is cut into 1/8" wide strips. I know that there are kits
: available for making model strip canoes, but I can't figure out how they
: glue the edges of the strips to the adjoining strips. Obviously you can't
: B&C them, and the veneer is so thin that there isn't much surface area for
: gluing. I don't want a lot of extra glue on the strips as it will be
: fragile until glassed so you can't scrape off the extra, and the veneer is
: so thin that you can't do much sanding.
: I was thinking that maybe the strips could be held to the forms (1/8"
: thick balsa) by pushing straight pins through them, if that doesn't cause
: the skinny cherry to split. I was even thinking of gluing the strips to
: the forms and leaving many of the forms inside the model since they won't
: show except in the coaming area. Has anyone else made such models?
